(See schedule details & options below)

Hosted by the "Betty's List" Team

Featuring Naturalist & Guide  Kim Powell, Blue Water Ventures

Ano Nuevo State Park & Davenport Landing
(Locations along beautiful Highway One)

Meet Kim Powell

Join Kim Powell and a team of naturalists as we hike to Ano Nuevo State Reserve, an area rich in cultural and natural history.

This Outdoor Adventure is for women of all ages. Couples and singles are welcome! Singles will be hosted and cared for. Couples will be as well. All are welcome! Please inquire with your questions.

During April, elephant seal pups - or "weaners" as they are fondly referred to - form playful aggregations known as "weaner pods" on the remote beaches of Ano Nuevo. Ano Nuevo State Reserve is the largest mainland breeding colony of the northern elephant seal in the  world and is a spectacular wildlife encounter.

We will make our way through this State Park jewel to view these amazing animals learning about their ecology and behavior.

The Ano Nuevo area was once a large settlement site for the Ohlone Indians. Our day will include examining a shell midden left by these early Native Americans. In the late afternoon, we will join our guides as we explore the tidepools of Natural Bridges State Park.

* Message from Our guide Kim Powell -

Dear Women:
Welcome to our incredible day together visiting the elephant seals of Ano Nuevo State Reserve and the tidepools of Davenport Landing with Betty's List and Blue Water Ventures.

On Saturday, April 14th we will go out rain or shine to experience the wonders of Ano Nuevo State Reserve.

- How to Dress
Please be prepared for a hot sunny day or a cool fog laden one.  Dress in layers with an outer shell such as a windbreaker. Be sure to have sunscreen. Cameras and binoculars packed in a daypack with a garbage bag inside in case it rains is recommended.

Hiking shoes or a sturdy tennis shoe for walking over sand are needed. You will need shoes that can get wet (no flip flops) for later in the day when we tide pool at Davenport Landing. Sandals with a back strap and some tread are acceptable for tidepooling.

- Distances We Will Traverse
Ano Nuevo: 3 1/2 miles round trip over sand with some elevation gain while hiking over sand dunes; some cardiovascular conditioning suggested
Davenport Landing: 1/2-1 mile round trip over sand; leisurely pace

We are looking forward to our adventure together to view the seal pups of Ano Nuevo and beyond!

Very Sincerely,

Kim Powell, MRPA
