KATE SCHATZ, a writer, teacher, and editor who lives in Oakland; whose first book of fiction, Rid Of Me: A Story, is out on Continuum Press, as part of their acclaimed 33 1/3 series; who is a co-founder and editor of The Encyclopedia Project, and who is currently working on a novel about Christian Science, electroshock therapy, and California.
from Georgia, ATHENS BOYS CHOIR, aka Katz, a Jewish transsexual man living in the Deep South; who travels the country speaking “the good word,” throwing down hard hitting spoken-word that deals with issues of Gender, Politics, Love, Sex, and everything in-between. As Out Magazine wrote in 2006, “Katz avoids falling into the common spoken-word trap…and instead uses engaging wordplay, razor-sharp wit, and hip-hop rhythms.” He has had the honor of sharing the stage with such artists as Ani Difranco, Indigo Girls, Bitch, The Butchies, Danielle Howle, and Michelle Malone, and has opened for poets of HBO’s Def Poetry Jam on more than one occasion. Athens Boys Choir has been touring nationally since 2003, and has produced four spoken word CDs.
KATHERINE V. FORREST, the internationally known author of 15 works of fiction including the lesbian classics Curious Wine and Daughters of a Coral Dawn, the first novel in her Lambda Literary Award-winning lesbian-feminist utopian trilogy; whose eight-volume Kate Delafield mystery series is a three-time winner of the Lambda Literary Award; who is a recipient of the Lambda Literary Foundation's Pioneer Award; who was was senior editor at Naiad Press for ten years and is currently supervising editor at Spinsters Ink; who has edited or co-edited numerous anthologies, and whose stories, articles and reviews have appeared in publications worldwide.

GOZEMBA, a former professor of English and Women's Studies; coauthor of Pockets of Hope: How Students and Teachers Change the World and Courting Equality: A Documentary History of America's First Legal Same-Sex Marriages; who is a founding member of The History Project, which has been documenting Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans Boston since 1980.

Betty's List Radar Reading Series Columnist Michelle Tea.
Michelle Tea serves as host and moderator of the popular “Radar Reading” series of the San Francisco Public Library's Hormel GLBT Center.
It's been said that Michelle Tea has taken “the writing world by storm.” Her second book, entitled “Valencia,” launched her into the literary scene not only in the Bay Area but nationally.
She is beloved for her writing and for live performances and arts organizing, such as the founding of a spoken-word troupe “Sister Spit.”
During its two-year span, Sister Spit became famous as an all-girl open mic event, earning the “Best in the Bay” nod from the San Francisco Bay Guardian. The group traveled and performed in many towns throughout the US and in the Bay Area, was responsible for visits by literary luminaries.
Tea has written four memoirs, including The Chelsea Whistle, Valencia and Rent Girl.
As an ex-prostitute, she has toured with the Sex Worker's Art Show, and she is a contributor to numerous publications.
Hailing originally from Chelsea, MA (a suburb of Boston),, Tea anow makes her home in San Francisco.
